On April 13, 1998 at 0504 hours, VBFD Engines 18, 19, 16, Ladder 16 and Battalion 4 responded to a townhouse fire in the 1500 block of Garland Way in the Green Run section of the city. Engine 18 and Battalion 4 were on scene and had 2 townhomes partially involved in fire. An interior attack was made but was not sustainable. Crews back out and placed Engine 19’s squirt in action to knock down the fire. VBFD Investigators determine the fire to be arson. Crime Solver tips lead to the arrest of 2 adults and 1 juvenile. With the assistance of the VBPD, it was determine that the fire was started to cover a crime scene.
