On 5-26-20 around 2219 hours, VBFD along with U.S. Navy Mid-Atlantic Engine 33 responded to a structural fire in the 3600 block of Sandpiper Road located in the Surfside At Sandbridge RV Resort in the Sandbridge section of the city. Engine 17 arrive on scene and did a split lay of 5” supply hose dropping 900 feet of hose with Engine 21 picking up the connection and laid another 400 feet to connect to the hydrant. With 1,300 feet of hose laid, Engine 17 came up short by 100 feet. However, they quickly attached a trimese and supplied the remaining distance with 3” hose. Engine 17 had an RV trailer fully engulfed that had extended to a car and a boat. The fire was under control at 2251 hours. One occupant was able to escape and was evaluated by VBEMS and released. No firefighter injuries were reported. The cause is under investigation.
